Markaz Law College, first of the 14 educational institutions to be set up as part of the proposed Markaz Knowledge City at Kaithappoyil, near Thamarassery, will be formally inaugurated at a function on the Markazu Ssaquafathi Sunniya (Sunni Cultural Centre) campus at Karanthur on Saturday. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Markaz general secretary Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar said the college, which would be inaugurated by Babu Mathew P. Joseph, judge of the Kerala High Court, had secured the approval of the Bar Council of India and the University of Calicut for its courses. The college would offer a five-year integrated BBA-LLB and a three-year LLB course, he said. “The college, which will start functioning on the Markaz campus at Karanthur temporarily will be shifted to the Knowledge City campus in two year’s time,” said Mr. Kanthapuram.
P.S. Gopi, who had headed the Government Law Colleges in Eranakulam and Kozhikode would be the Principal of the college. A panel of legal experts, including Thahir Muhammed and Sebastian Paul, would supervise the academic affairs, he said.
